I have a hard time believing in Blackbeards power because as 'darkness' or 'nothing' Even if he were able to absorb someone's devil fruit powers, it would have to be a fleeting and temporary thing at best. You can't actually create anything from darkness or nothing, that's why Blackbeard destroys everything that he touches. So there's no way to fully imitate that devil fruit's powers, never mind unlocking its future potentials. When a person eats a devil fruit, they are taking into themselves a whole host of alien dna structures and molecules that change them on a deep, cellular level. Having someone like Blackbeard who destroys things because he's darkness and nothing, suddenly being able to CREATE these incredible abilities in himself is just b.s. and poor, poor writing overall. They just couldn't think of a better way to make Blackbeard the big bad villian guy he's supposed to be. Yeah, I just don't buy it. It's too convenient a power that makes no sense.

black beards power is to manipulate devil fruit powers. he can stop a devil fruit users attacks and is able to tranfer powers after the users death. he shares them with his crew and tranfers the best powers to the rings he wears. i think it will be revealed the stones in the rings will be some kind of soul stone. as of right now he has 3 powers devil fruit manipulation, darkness, and earthquake.
